From the beginning stages of planning this event, we knew that it would be a significant one for us - it would be our last Artists for Impact event as high school students.
This event was the end of one era for Artists for Impact, and in the fall we will be moving on to our respective colleges and planning events in those new areas. By the time AFI returns to Mamaroneck, we will both be halfway through our first year at college.
As a result, the success of this event was greatly meaningful to us - it was our biggest event to date, both in terms of lineup and attendees. . We were able to beat our previous year’s May fundraising achievement and succeeded in raising $708 for The LOFT: LGBT Community Center in White Plains. Additionally, we were able to hand out numerous pamphlets and brochures detailing The LOFT’s incredible resources for our local LGBTQ+ community. We also sold AFI pins, raffled off hand-embroidered AFI totes, and gave out brochures about our own organization.
Our performers included Ris, Serena Jade, Grace O’Rourke, Stella Wunder, End April, Andrew Glener, Kyle Francavilla, Sandile Mhlaba, and Fight the Thunder. Spoken word by Zoe Schuman and Madison Crane was also featured. Our gallery artists were Anna Boswell, Lucas Pasquina, Jane Hollander, Emily Hollander, Katelyn Sansotta, Grace O’Rourke, Stella Wunder, and Dasha.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of years. We are thrilled with Artists for Impact’s growth and are eager to continue it during our college years and beyond. Because of you, we have been able to raise nearly $2500 for various organizations and hold five events in Mamaroneck and DC. We are now officially Artists for Impact Inc., a charitable nonprofit in New York State, and are working towards 501(c)3 federal nonprofit status.
